Job insecurity has attracted attention of scholars and practitioners word-wide. This trend is expedited with the development of advanced technology in the fields of automation, artificial intelligence and robotics. <br/>However, in China, there are a lot of enterprises (e.g., Jing Dong, Hai Di Lao etc., ) have increased the development and investment of AI projects and have achieved practical results in lives. AI technology have been widely used in Beijing, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Qingdao and other places. This study examined the level of perceived job insecurity among employees of information and communication technology (ICT) companies in Beijing. In addition, this study also determined the relationships between technology usage and self-efficacy with job insecurity. From the 235 responses received, results have indicated that respondents of this study perceived low level of job insecurity. Meanwhile, correlation results have indicated there are no relationships between technology usage and self-efficacy on job insecurity. In effort to find out why all four hypotheses were not supported, four personal interviewers were conducted. Interviewees believed that when a person is lack of particular competency such as learning abilities and skills, this will lead to job insecurity. This finding implications and recommendations for future studies and provided. |
