520 _aBy carrying out this research, the framework of popular models was scrutinized to identify features that were most relevant for the processes involved in a student’s Final considering the constraints that they face in an academic environment. Besides that, further investigation was done to evaluate alternative life cycles that was already put into practice by other researchers that would be useful in academic environment. In essence, this dissertation aims to evaluate the challenges faced by Computing Degree students whilst doing their FYP because of the unsuitability of existing System Development Life Cycles (SDLCs). A more practical alternative model is also recommended for the academic environment, so that it can be considered by supervisors and universities for students’ FYP. The objective from this is, to increase the likelihood of students achieving the expected learning outcomes of completing a software based FYP as a part of their Computing Degree. This proposed model was used by 14 Sunway University students for their FYP.
